Director: TaShane L. O'Haver, M.ED.
Mrs. O'Haver is from San Antonio, Texas. She is a graduate of Roosevelt High School where she served in the dance and spirit programs for all 4 years. After graduating from Roosevelt, Mrs. O'Haver attended Texas State University. She was a 3 year member of the world famous Strutters performing for Texas State halftimes and other Strutter events. Also while at Texas State, she was a member of the Orchesis Dance Company. Mrs. O'Haver is a two time graduate of Texas State University. Her first bachelor's degree is in Political Science with a minor in Sociology and her second bachelor's degree is in Sociology with a minor in Dance. She began her teaching career in Galveston, TX as the head director of the Ball High Tornettes. Other directing credits include the founding director of the Somerset High School Silver Dancers, the dance team director and spirit coordinator at Harlandale High School, and the cheerleading coach at Roosevelt High School. During this time she also earned her masters degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (with a 4.0 GPA) and her principal certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2012. Mrs. O'Haver joined the Longhorn family becoming the Lariette director. As the Lariette director, Mrs. O'Haver has grown the program from 18 members, to over 60 members with 2 teams and a full time second dance teacher. Additionally, Mrs. O'Haver created the first LCISD JV Drill Team (Belles) and played an integral role in being the first LCISD campus/track to offer middle school and junior high dance.
Under Mrs. O'Haver's direction, the Lariettes have won 6 national championships in 4 years, performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, performed in the Cotton Bowl, attend the Monsters of Hip Hop dance convention yearly, and have won many other awards! Mrs. O'Haver has 2 children Hailee who is a senior Lariette officer, and Will who is a sophomore member of the drumline. She also has two rescue furbabies, Mitzy her sweet Schnoodle and Kitty who she rescued from the middle of Reading Road. 2020-2021 will be the start of Mrs. O'Haver's 9th year at George Ranch High School!
Assistant Director: Brittany Suey
Ms. Suey began her dance career at age 16 where she performed with professional studios such as The Houston Metropolitan Dance Center and Planet Funk Academy. After high school, she received a full scholarship for dance to Hawaii Pacific University, where she earned 2 national titles and an innovative choreography award with NDA. In 2012 Ms. Suey graduated with her B.A. in Psychology from HPU. Upon graduation, she became the Head Coach for Hawaii Pacific University Dance Team, Cheer Team advisor, and University NCAA Compliance Assistant. She has choreographed pieces which have premiered on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World, Monsters of Hip Hop, and World of Dance. She has also performed in the NFL halftime show of the ProBowl, with Derek Daniels Productions, and Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre. She continued her education by earning her certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and became a nationally ranked personal trainer through the UFC Gym, where she concentrated on functional training and injury prevention. She moved back to Houston, Texas in 2016 when her and her husband welcomed their daughter, London, into the world. Under the guidance of Ms. O'Haver, Ms. Suey is LCISD's first dance teacher to travel and teach all campuses on the maroon track, which consists of over 250 6th- 12th grade students. She assisted the George Ranch Lariettes & Belles in winning the 2017 national title with MA Dance.
